Overview

The Personal Trainer is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and engaging fitness programming to YMCA members. This role supports individuals in achieving their health and wellness goals through personalized training plans, motivation, and education, while promoting the YMCA’s mission of healthy living.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fitness assessments and develop individualized training programs.
  • Lead one-on-one and small group training sessions.
  • Educate members on proper exercise techniques and equipment usage.
  • Monitor member progress and adjust programs as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workout environment.
  • Promote YMCA programs and services to members.
  • Build positive relationships with members to encourage continued participation.
  • Maintain accurate records of sessions and member progress.
  • Attend staff meetings and required trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.
  • Nationally recognized personal training certification (e.g., ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA) required.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in personal training or fitness instruction preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire clients.
  • Knowledge of fitness principles, exercise techniques, and nutrition basics.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to walk, stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, push, and pull.
  • Ability to speak and write concisely and effectively communicate needs.
  • Ability to view computer monitor and enter data for long periods of time.
  • Work may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Posted Salary Range

USD $18.00 - USD $20.00 /Hr.
